You'll find a good deal of information about Australia from The Australian Tourist Commission which is the federal government's tourist promotion organisation. That site is, of course, designed to bring tourists.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is Australia's national broadcaster,
operating a number of national radio and TV networks, as well as local
stations. The online presence
offers access to all major areas of the Corporation. The ones of
particular interest to me are
- Radio National
- the network for those who like to be informed and challenged. Live streaming is available in Real Player format and Windows media.
- News Radio
- which carries Federal Parliament when sitting, but otherwise has rolling news, and is also available in live streaming with Real Player format and also in Windows media.
The Streaming Audio page lists mp3 (selected networks only), Real Audio or Microsoft Streaming Media. And, of course, there's the inevitable, and very convenient Podcasting.
National news is available from
Qantas, the Australian airline.
Vegemite, the Australian icon, although owned by Kraft, also appears on the web.
And where would Australians be with an Akubra Hat.
Look for a phone number in
- White Pages for access by name.
- Yellow Pages for business listings by type.
