Scheduled departure from Lourdes was not until after lunch, so we had the morning for Mass and a "self guided" tour of the town. The Lourdes web page contains quite a bit of information about the town. Another site has a series of photos of Lourdes and Bernadette. And a very detailed web site offers information on Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimages to Lourdes.
Morning Mass was in the Chapel of Saints Cosmas and Damien.
This is located in one of the buildings on the avenue in front
of the basilica. This morning we were joined by a group from England.
The grotto where Mary appeared to Bernadette in 1858,
and where miraculous cures take place.
The basilicas as seen from the avenue where the torchlight procession
takes place.
The two basilicas, and in the distance, the castle (between the tree
on the left and the lower spire in the middle).
