Day 13 - More Lourdes & On The Road

Peter and I went walking around Lourdes, specifically I wanted to
buy an additional flash memory card for my camera. Using 30 year
old (and rusty!) neurons, I remembered enough French to ask where
the camera store was located, and with samples, gestures and a
few odd words, managed to buy what I wanted. Ah, the power of memory.
And need.
The street in front of the camera store. Certainly not designed
with modern commerce in mind, but pleasant nonetheless.
A nicely maintained building (doctor's surgery, I think)
beneath the castle.
The noble Gave River, which was certainly flowing very swiftly.
Detouring In Spain
After leaving Lourdes, we travelled west to the Atlantic coast
before re-entering Spain. Not sure why we went so far west - one
possibility is to avoid another mountain crossing. Then the
driver became "disoriented" when we were planning to stop for
a coffee break, and somehow managed to miss the parking lot
and then take a wrong turn and end up in San Sebastian,
an upmarket city on the Atlantic coast of Spain. It seemed a
very pleasant city.
As we were driving past the beach, this large statue appeared.
I have not found any reference to it, but I expect it to be a statue of Jesus.
St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, was born only
50km from here.
Another part of town.
Towards Pamplona
After leaving the coast the road climbs over moutains towards
Pamplona, our night's destination.
Looking into the valleys and hills upon leaving the San Sebastian area.
Obviously this area receives decent rainfall, judging by the amount of green.
At The Bowling Alley
The new hotel we stayed at in Pamplona was on the outskirts of
town, in what appeared to be a business park. It also seemed to
be very new, and just getting set up. And across the parking
lot was a bowling alley, which lead to the "Group N Bowling Night"
extravaganza!
Some of the bowlers probably were in the dark :-)
Well, these ones aren't!
And Yvonne provided the baby minding service for little Harry.
